Only by insisting on historical materialism can we correctly understand the signification of the new form of human civilization. To that end, we must, with a broad view of history, comprehend the historical logic and evolutionary path of the move from one form of civilization to another, understand that the transformation of the main contradictions in Chinese society has given new connotations to a new form of human civilization, and gain insight into the civilizational tension that is leading the great on-going changes to a social progress. We must deeply understand CPC’s original contribution to historical materialism: Without CPC’s hundred-year struggle, there would be no the new form of human civilization; “the two combinations” has shaped the contemporary theoretical inner core of the new form of human civilization; CPC has created a new form of human civilization by going along the Chinese path of modernization. We should deeply understand the essential transcendence of the new form of human civilization over the existing civilizations. It corrects the idea that “the East is subordinate to the West”, creates a “genuine community” that surpasses the “false community” of Western modernity, and lays a theoretical foundation and achieves civilizational rebuilding for a shared future of China and the world. However, the “criticism of weapons” is still the basic means in building the ultimate community.
