The evaluation of Stalin is a major issue in relation to the Marxist-Leninist political principles. To evaluate Stalin in a scientific manner, we must first adhere to the Marxist standpoint, viewpoint and methods, which means to uphold historical materialism when analyzing and understanding historical figures. In evaluating historical figures, different positions and different class interests may lead to completely opposite conclusions. Distorting, denying, and slandering Stalin has brought catastrophic, subversive, and historic consequences to the cause of Marxism and socialism. Those who completely reject Stalin do not mean to oppose personality cult or correct Stalin’s mistakes,but to use it as an excuse to completely deny the objective law and inevitable trend of social and historical development, negate Marxism-Leninism, scientific socialism, the dictatorship of the proletariat and the leadership of the Communist Party, betray Marxism-Leninism, abandon the cause of scientific socialism, and join hands with Western capitalist forces.
