Zhong Jun：Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to the Inheritance and Development of Mao Zedong Thought

Abstract: From Mao Zedong’s proposition of “the sinicization of Marxism” to Xi Jinping’s advancement of “adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of our times”, it is not a simple extension of concepts, but a theoretical presentation of the historical movement of our Party’s treatment of Marxism which can be characterized as both adhering to and developing Marxism, as well as upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground. From Mao Zedong Thought to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, it fully demonstrates the logic line of upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground, which shows the Party’s theoretical innovations from the sinicization of Marxism to the adaption of Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of our times which both comes down in the continuous line and keeps pace with the times. In terms of upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground in the aspect of ideological system, it insists on the dialectical unity of inheritance of fundamental principles and localized development, and constantly realizes new leaps in theoretical innovations; in the aspect of people’s positions, it insists on a high degree of agreement between theoretical standpoints and political stance, and constantly opens up a new realm of all-round human development; in the aspect of practice, it insists that “the weapon of criticism” and “the criticism of the weapon” establish each other and function based on each other, and constantly creates a new glory in the cause of the Party and the people; and in the aspect of keeping the world in mind, it insists on the organic combination of values and value facts, and constantly writes a new chapter of dedication to human progress and world harmony.
