Wu Zhongmin：The Successful Avoidance of “Modernization Trap” by Chinese-Style Modernization

Abstract:Since the reform and opening up, on the whole, China’s modernization has successfully avoided some important modernization traps, which have large knock-on effects and negative effects, and has not fallen into them, thus ensuring the smooth progress of China’s modernization and its achievement of a great success. In terms of national autonomous development, Chinese-style modernization has successfully avoided the dependency trap. In terms of material economic base, Chinese-style modernization has successfully avoided the trap of de-industrialization. In terms of economic institutional arrangements,Chinese-style modernization has successfully avoided the trap of capital supremacy. In terms of social protection, Chinese-style modernization has successfully avoided the welfare overload trap. In terms of social security, Chinese-style modernization has successfully avoided the social unrest trap. In a certain sense, China’s success in achieving the second centennial goal depends to a large extent on its ability to continuously avoid the various modernization traps.
