Abstract:Is the working class in the West today still the main force to promote social change? Is it still the main body of social movement? On the one hand, it is the mainstream idea that working class is no longer the main body of social movement; on the other hand, the development of capital crisis resulted in the intensification of class conflict and struggle. Under this circumstance, rebuilding the working class the main body of the socialist movement becomes the critical historical task socialists in western society at this historic transition period. The prerequisite of this would be to rebuild and reshape their class-conscious, which is a necessary step from class-in-itself to class-for-itself. The formation and unity of global working class is the necessary basis and pre-condition for the development of social movement under globalization.
