Abstract:Eight Social Thoughts in Contemporary China is a book that includes all kinds of misguided trends of thought in contemporary China. It erroneously evaluates Deng Xiaoping theory and Deng Xiaoping, denies the existence of two types of views of reform in China and of the difference in principle between capitalist reform and socialist reform, and thinks that the two historical periods of reform and opening up are opposing each other. It mistakenly refers to Deng Xiaoping as the one who said that “it is hard to talk about … the socialist route, and we had better not to talk about it.” It also opposes public ownership of the means of production and advocates complete privatization. These viewpoints run counter to the demand of sticking to and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics, and must be firmly rejected.
