Tang Aijun:Four Perspectives of Grasping Xi Jinping Thought on Culture
     Release time: 2024-06-20
Abstract: Xi Jinping thought on culture involves four pairs of important relationships, which are four effective theoretical perspectives for the in-depth interpretation of the doctrinal connotations of Xi Jinping thought on culture. The first is the dialectical relationship between culture and economy and politics. Xi Jinping thought on culture takes the materialist concept of history as its theoretical cornerstone, follows the materialist line of cultural theory, and focuses on revealing the functions of culture as “cultural productivity,” “political legitimacy,” and “spiritual power,” which has laid a theoretical foundation for firm cultural self-confidence. The second is the dialectical relationship between tradition and modernity. Xi Jinping thought on culture transcends the dualism of “tradition-modernity”, and through dialectical analysis of the relationship between tradition and modernity, reveals the intrinsic connection and mutual empowerment between Chinese civilization and Chinese-style modernization, as well as the high degree of compatibility and mutual achievement between fine traditional Chinese culture and Marxism. The third is the dialectical relationship between subjectivity and cosmopolitanism. Xi Jinping thought on culture transcends the abstract “East-West dispute” by not only adhering to the subjectivity of culture, getting rid of the “apprenticeship” position to Western theories, and continuously constructing the originality of Chinese theories and the subjectivity of Chinese discourse, but also adhering to the global stance of embracing the whole world and making peace with all nations, advocating the exchange and mutual learning of civilizations, and advocating cultural pluralism. The fourth is the dialectical relationship between body and use. Xi Jinping thought on culture is characterized by the distinctive features of understanding the root and achieving the function of the root, embodying the dialectical unity of the root and the function, theory and practice.
