Abstract: As one of the original contributions of the CPC in the new era, the “two combinations”, in terms of its ideological origins, is an innovative creation based on the “one combination” put forward by Mao Zedong. Mao Zedong’s thought of “combination” was put forward in the context of opposing subjectivism, especially dogmatism, and eliminating the misunderstandings of the Comintern, the contributions of which lie in revealing the essence of the sinicization of Marxism, correcting the Party’s ideological line, establishing the Party’s excellent style of study, and advancing the theoretical and practical innovations of the sinicization of Marxism. These significant contributions have made Mao Zedong’s thought of “combination” the source of the idea of adhering to the “two combinations” in the new era, a shining example of scientific treatment of Marxism, and a fundamental guideline for the promotion of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of our times.
