Shang Zhixiao：On the Modern Civilization of the Chinese Nation

Abstract:From the concept of “Chinese civilization” to the expression of “modern civilization of the Chinese nation”, and further to the major proposition of “building the modern civilization of the Chinese nation”, it shows that the CPC has deepened its understanding and acting with a high degree of consciousness on a series of important issues, such as the cultural construction and the creation of civilization. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s new ideas, new viewpoints and new judgments on the inheritance of Chinese civilization and building the modern civilization of the Chinese nation have enabled us to broaden our horizons and deepen our thinking, and pointed out the direction for us to follow. The modern civilization of the Chinese nation refers to the new civilization created by the CPC uniting and leading the people since the founding of New China. The modern civilization of the Chinese nation and the setting out and development of Chinese-style modernization are linked to and mirror each other, and highlight the national characteristics and Chinese style. The essence of the modern civilization of the Chinese nation is characterized by the leadership of the CPC, the ideological foundation of Marxism, the attributes of socialism, and the status of the people as the main body. To build the modern civilization of the Chinese nation under the new historical conditions, it is necessary to follow the practice of Chinese-style modernization, combine it with the construction of the advanced socialist culture, connect it with the historical heritage of the Chinese nation, and broaden our views of building the modern civilization with a global vision.
