Since entering the industrial society, humans have experienced or are currently experiencing four technological revolutions and four industrial revolutions each. Every technological revolution greatly improves production efficiency, forms new quality productive forces, and brings about a qualitative leap in production methods. Every industrial revolution will give birth to new industries, new models, and new driving forces, leading to a qualitative change in the form, organization, and scale of industry. The process of industrial modernization in the world presents certain regularities, with technological innovation being the fundamental driving force behind industrial modernization, quality improvement being the essential feature of industrial modernization, and industrial upgrading being the core connotation of industrial modernization. The evolution trend of industrial modernization presents a non-linear pattern. The process of Chinese style industrial modernization can be roughly divided into three stages, each with distinct characteristics. At different stages of development, there are significant differences in China’s industrial modernization development strategies, which are determined by the level of technological development at that time and the domestic and international political and economic situation. China’s industrialization is an important component of world industrialization, deeply influenced not only by the world’s technological and industrial revolutions, but also by the development trends of the world’s technological and industrial revolutions. Today, as the Fourth Industrial Revolution is brewing, in order to truly achieve Chinese style industrial modernization, it is necessary to increase technological innovation, vigorously develop strategic emerging industries, accelerate the formation of new quality productive forces, establish personalized, networked, and intelligent production methods, and build a complete, efficient, and scientific intelligent manufacturing industry system.
