The cultural construction in the early period of the PRC defined the main purpose of culture serving the masses, guaranteed the cultural rights and interests of the people, and shaped the main body of cultural construction. It also cultivated the new generation of the times, established the policy of“letting a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend”and the basic path of cultural construction of“putting forward the new”,“making the past serve the present and making the foreign serve the Chinese”, and prospered and developed the socialist cultures. The achievements of the cultural construction in the early period of the PRC include safeguarding the people’s cultural rights and interests, establishing the guiding position of Marxism, creating numerous new China’s literary classics, carrying out large-scale cultural projects with national strength, constructing Chinese discourse, and shaping Chinese spirit. The main experience refers to adhering to the key role of the party’s leadership in cultural work, carrying forward the exemplary role of model virtues, cultivating the people’s culture, and attaching significance to cultural innovation. In the new era, we should inherit effective measures and methods from the past cultural construction and learn from the experience and lessons, so that the people of all ethnic groups in the country can work together with one heart and one mind to build the grand cause of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
