Objectively Understanding New China’s Economic System and Economic Growth Before the Reform and Opening up

It is very important to objectively understand and judge the economic system, economic development and the achievements of national defense before the reform and opening up; otherwise we may fall into historical nihilism. The system of“public ownership, mandatory plan management, and distribution according to work”for basic means of production which new China established under the condition of backward productive forces, is the relatively optimal or the least bad choice under specific and severe constraints, and generally the“forced”choice in line with economic principles.Without the hard work and the foundation of economy, science and technology and opening up in the first thirty years of new China, there would be no great achievements since the reform and opening up. In addition, the achievements in the first thirty years of new China are more hard won. We should not hastily deny or question the economic system and economic growth strategy in that period of new China.
