The 17th CPC Central Committee put forward the pathway to socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the 18th CPC Central Committee defined the pathway issue as the one concerning the fate of state, ethnicity, Party and peoples and as the means to accomplish the socialism undertaking with Chinese characteristics. Deng Xiaoping many a time mentioned Chinese model and clarified its primary features. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speeches about Chinese model clearly indicate the unity of Chinese pathway and Chinese model. The former lays weight on a diachronic description of Chinese development course while the latter focuses on a synchronic depiction, comprising two sides of the same issue.
