Abstract:The Spirit of historical initiative is the spirit of the working class and the masses of the people to take the initiative to create history under the guidance of Marxism and to push social history forward towards the far-reaching goal of communism. It is the product of the formation and development of human subjective initiative in the course of social history. Marxism is the conscious expression and manifestation of the historical initiative of the working class. The spirit of historical initiative is the unique spiritual quality of Marxism that distinguishes it from all other ideologies and theories, and it is the inherent spiritual quality of the CPC. Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is both the latest achievement of promoting adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of our times with a great spirit of historical initiative, and the concentrated manifestation of the CPC’s spirit of historical initiative. To promote the development of the CPC and China, the spirit of historical initiative must be carried forward. Adhering to the guidance of Marxism is fundamental to grasping the historical initiative. Realizing the positive interaction between theoretical and practical innovations in the “two combinations” is a realistic way to gain the historical initiative. Self-criticism and self-revolution are powerful weapons for winning the historical initiative. Daring to struggle is the inherent meaning of the spirit of historical initiative.
