Hu Xiaokun: The Inevitability and the Scientific Narrative Approach of the Capitalist Crisis An Investigation Based on Marx’s Structural Scheme of Political Economy
Release time: 2025-08-19
The insistence on the unity of the inevitability and the scientific narrative of the capitalist crisis is the fundamental position that distinguishes Marx’s theory from general economic theories and various critical theories. The double tasks of analyzing the worldwide economic crisis in 1857 and formulating the principles of political economy, as reciprocally stipulating for each other, lay an objective narrative foundation for Marx to devise the structural scheme of political economy. The methodological nature of Marx’s theory of erises requires the employment of “rational abstraction” and a dialectical narrative form so as to upgrade the “general nature of capital” onto the concrete determinations of “universal world market crisis.” It demands a concrete explanation on how the capitalist mode of production blazes a trail for itself through the violent approach and coercive balancing of the crisis, as well as how it creates practical conditions for the adoption of a new historical form for the human society by deepening and broadening the world market crisis , all of which reveal the essential origins of the crisis.
