     Release time: 2024-11-28

  Fu Hao & Zhu Wenxiu

  Abstract

In April 2022, Science & Society, a well-established left-wing academic journal in the United States, released its fourth special issue on “Visioning Socialism.” In this special issue, various theoretical models for future socialism are presented, with the aim of creating a long-lasting institutional framework for socialism that goes beyond capital and involves widespread participation in a well-structured and progressive system. The emphasis is placed on the innovative models of “Democratic Planned Socialism,” introducing innovative theories such as Multilevel Democratic Iterative Coordination (MDIC), Protagonistic Planned Socialism, the Wage-for-Life Alternative and Democratic Economic Planning, with significant theoretical contributions for the development of 21st-century Marxism in the Western Left. These socialist theories offer distinctive academic perspectives, and while it is necessary to examine and distinguish between some of the ideas, it is also necessary to promote continuous innovation in socialist theory through international cooperation, since this will be conductive to the global development of socialism.
