Mao Zedong Thought realizes the first historical leap of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context, and the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics realizes a new leap. Since the reform and opening-up, Chinese communists, with Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zeming, Hu Jintao and Xi Jinping as the main representatives, persist in scientifically evaluating the important position and great contribution of comrade Mao Zedong and Mao Zedong Thought, uphold fundamental principles and break a new ground, and go on sticking to, passing on and developing Mao Zedong Thought under the new historical conditions. During the process of facing and answering a series of important questions, they gradually find out a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Especially, General Secretary Xi Jinping takes the lead in unswervingly maintaining the historical position of comrade Mao Zedong, persisting in and carrying forward Mao Zedong Thought, and actively developing and innovating in Mao Zedong Thought on the basis of persistence and succession, thus setting a good example for the whole party, the whole army and all the ethnic groups of the whole country and having realized a new leap of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of our times.
