Antonio Gramsci is an outstanding activist in the international communist movement and Marxist theorist. His socialist ideas and revolutionary practice not only provided a guide to action for the early revolutionary activities of the Italian Communist Party, but some of his original concepts and ideas are still applicable to our understanding of the social reality today. In the past decade, the theoretical circles at home and abroad have incorporated a new perspective of historical research into the study of Gramsci’s thought, and have successively published a series of new works with new understandings. The study of the heritage of Gramsci’s ideas from the perspective of historical research provides certain experience for upholding and developing the theory and practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
