The relationship between Mao Zedong thought and Marxism-Leninism is not only an important academic issue, but also involves certain political factors. There has been a great deal of debate on this issue in overseas academic circles and there are also some misinterpretations. They either analyzed the connection between Mao Zedong thought and Marxism-Leninism from the academic point of view, or classified Mao Zedong thought as a subordinate of Stalinism for ideological consideration, or overemphasized the influence of China’s local factors on Mao Zedong thought, and then separated the connection between Mao Zedong thought and Marxism-Leninism. To sort out the theoretical logic of the relationship between Mao Zedong thought and Marxism-Leninism in overseas academic circles, to criticize the misinterpretations of overseas academic circles, is helpful to correctly understand the positioning of Mao Zedong Thought in the theoretical pedigreed of Marxism.
