This paper discusses China’s reform and opening up and the blazing and development of the uniquely Chinese path to modernization. It argues that Deng Xiaoping’s proposing the uniquely Chinese path to modernization is integral for leading reform and opening up and socialist modernization scientifically and effectively and that the proposal is an important conclusion drawn from the historical experience and reflects a deep understanding of China's national conditions and the modernization of other countries. With reform and opening up in full swing, the exploration of the uniquely Chinese path to modernization has been further deepened, the connotation of building a modern socialist country was been constantly enriched and developed, the modernization strategy was advanced, and the goal of modernization was expanded from building a modern country which is prosperous, strong, democratic and culturally advanced to building a modern country which is prosperous,strong, democratic, culturally advanced and harmonious, and the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects was defined. Since the 18th National Party Congress, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, and the Party has proposed to build China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful as a two-stage strategy.The Party has put forward higher requirements for basically achieving modernization, proposed five characteristics of Chinese-style modernization, blazed a new and uniquely Chinese path to modernization,created a new model for human advancement, and further guided the direction of modernization. The blazing of the new and uniquely Chinese path to modernization has expanded the way of developing countries toward modernization,provided a brand-new choice for countries and peoples in the world who wish to accelerate development while maintaining their independence, and contributed Chinese wisdom and approach to solving human problems.
