Historical nihilism is a bourgeois political trend of thought that opposes socialism.In the process of great social transformation,it goes against the new and defends the old. It completely denies every choice on the route of development for Chinese society made by the Communist Party of China at each stage,and advocates complete westernization and the capitalist road. The philosophical basis of historical nihilism is an idealist conception of history. The focus of the current debate between Marxism and historical nihilism is whether the socialist road can accomplish the modernization. Only the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through a socialist route,can the supporting theory of historical nihilism be completely repudiated.Historical nihilism in essence is consistent with other bourgeois political thoughts,such as neoliberalism and democratic socialism. All of them echo with each other in the process of “peaceful evolution”pursued by the hostile forces in the West. Opposing historical nihilism is a long--term task in the ideological and theoretical front in China.
