Samir Amin has been long committed to the critique of global capitalism and the exploration of a socialist alternative. He has elaborated on the polarization in the world economic system,criticized the discourses of bourgeois ideology,and discussed the socialist alternative as solution to the crisis of capitalism.In so doing,Amin inherits and develops the Marxist approach of capital critique，clarifies the distinction between Marxism and bourgeois social science,and develops the Marxist idea concerning the critique and superseding of capitalism. In the meantime,we also need to be aware of the bias in some of Amin’s viewpoints and conclusions as a result of his positivistic view of science,such as his understanding of Marxist economics,critique of the Second International,the Communist International and the theory and practice of the socialism of the Soviet Union.
