Zhou Shangwen:The October Revolution of 1917: Historical Misrepresentation or a Choice out of History
     Release time: 2017-05-26

2017 witnesses the Centenary of the October Revolution of 1917.There have been various interpretations of the revolution.Admittedly, its victory was to a great extent by chance. However, against its background of conflict-troubled monopoly capitalism, the revolution was the product of numerous proxies, and inevitably broke out in Russia as the country had become the weakness of the capitalist world. By this time, if a revolutionary party were equipped with clear-cut strategies and principles of Marxism,it could be of great probability that the party would lead people to overthrow the obsolete authority and found a new proletarian government. Fundamentally, the significance of the October Revolution lies in exploration on a new non-capitalist pathway to modernization. The exploration was a prolonged and tough process which is still on-going.In this sense, the socialist pathway with Chinese characteristics is a successive undertaking after the October Revolution.Hence, its victory could never be a historical misrepresentation but a choice out of history.
