Doing well in summing up experience is one important methods of the Party’s leadership and an important part to maintain its correct leadership.The essence of Mao Zedong’s advocation of doing well in summing up experience lies in adherence to the truth and mistake correction.In the new historical period, Deng Xiaoping attached great importance to the practice by continually and regularly summing up experience. Doing well in summing up experience requires upholding and applying Marxist stand, viewpoint and method, persistence in the right direction of combining the basic principles of Marxism with China’s actual conditions, accurate evaluation of existing main trends, and conscious usage of the weapon of criticism and self-criticism.
