Song Xueqin:Scientific Application of Marxist Methodology of Historiography
     Release time: 2016-04-02

The essence of Marxist historiographical methodology is the interpretation of history in a scientific and dialectical way, while its purpose is to build a bridge between the history and the future of human society. Therefore,Marxist historiographical methodology never advocates studying the past for the past's sakeor staying with abstract description or conceptualization of macro-history. Instead, it pays attention to the organic interaction between empirical studies at the micro level and abstraction at the macro level. The lack of such dialectical thinking of Marxist historiography lies in the center of the problem in the case studies and empirical studies at present. We must be clear that the conscious generation of the problem awareness is the basic premise and ultimate goal of empirical research. Since empirical research cannot be separated from the guidance of ideas, it is the best approach to seek a positive interaction between case study and theoretical abstraction in a more mature understanding of history.
