Source: Studies on Marxism.2010.No.11.      Release time: 2014-03-11

The key point about the argument of "Universal Value" lies not in whether human has the pursuit of any common values, but in whether we can take it as the guide of action in our country's reform practice process. Its essence is whether the practice of China's reform and opening up and even the practice of contemporary human beings will go no further than the current European and American modern civilization,or will definitely surpass this civilization and tend toward the communism. This is the source of almost all the arguments about current China's thought and policy and the major dispute about China's development direction. The existence premise and strength of "Universal Value" is the present agreement of majority people. Therefore, it is the permeation way of the modern western dominant discourse which can not be mixed with universal truths.
