Nikos Mottas:Mitsotakis’ anti-communist rantagainst the KKE
     Release time: 2024-04-16

Today, Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis couldn’t hide his disturbance for the fact that the Communist Party (KKE) leads the struggle against the monstrous bill which establishes private universities. For that reason he resorted to hideous anti-communism, unleashing slanders against the KKE.

The pretext behind Mitsotakis’ rant was yesterday’s speech of KKE’s General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas who exposed and denounced phenomena of extreme exploitation of female and male students in Nordic countries due to the commercialization of High Education. More specifically, Secretary Koutsoumbas criticized the so-called “Scandinavian model”, saying:

“As for the Scandinavian model, not even the Scandinavians believe in it, as they have also faced bitter experiences due to the imposition of tuition fees. [This has] resulted in a rotten state of affairs where young female students resort to seeking ‘sugar daddies’ to finance their studies, in exchange for favors we are all aware of. Perhaps you should consider emulating another ‘capitalist paradise’.”

Apparently, Mr Mitsotakis couldn’t accept the exposure of the ugly, monstrous face of capitalist exploitation by the KKE. He accused the General Secretary for “sexism” and referred to the KKE as “the most anachronistic power in this room”. Furthermore, the Prime Minister used vulgar language concerning women who lived in socialist countries by saying: “Perhaps you imagine Greece as a communist country, because these things happened elsewhere”.

The deplorable remarks of Mitsotakis-an outspoken supporter of NATO, USA and EU murderous imperialism-draw the response from Secretary Koutsoumbas who replied: “Your words that the KKE is an anachronistic party consist an honor of the KKE. You should be ashamed for being silent over exploiters who seek to seduce students”.

We had no illusions whatsoever about the political and ideological origins Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his New Democracy party. But today, the Prime Minister proved, straightforwardly and beyond doubt, that he is a shameless, historically illiterate anti-communist. New Democracy party, a political power which since 1974 represents the interests of the capitalist elite, has neither the moral nor the political right to pose as a defender of progressiveness or, even more, women’s rights.

Despite anti-communist slanders, Mr Mitsotakis and his party cannot and will not hide the deep decay of the exploitative capitalist system. History will soon or later judge the sworn enemies of the working class.
