Attitude of some communist parties towards Iran’s activities
     Release time: 2022-12-23

Protests in Iran continued to escalate.

The protests in Iran began on September 17 when Mahsa Amini, 22, was arrested for not wearing a headscarf, and then the woman died. This protest has become the biggest challenge to Iran’s clerical leaders in years. Protesters demand the overthrow of the religious supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Tudeh Party of Iran (TPI) issued a statement on September 30, emphasizing the mobilization of the masses to strengthen the protest activities. At present, mass protests have taken place in more than 80 cities in Iran, including strikes at more than 80 universities.

At present, the protests have resulted in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries. The Tudeh Party of Iran once again stressed the weakening of the rule of divine power over the people, and reiterated the slogan of “women, life, freedom”.

In response to Iran’s current activities, the communist parties of all countries expressed their views and reiterated that all countries should not interfere in Iran’s internal affairs and that it is up to the Iranian people to decide their own country.

Party of Labor of Austria

Party of Labor of Austria expressed its views on Iran’s activities on September 30. Party of Labor of Austria believes that at present, the theocracy in Tehran is suppressing the protests by extremely cruel means. Amini’s murder is not an isolated case, but a magnifying glass of the society that constantly deprives women of their basic social rights.

The party believes that there is no need to believe the EU’s indignation and double-dealing talk in this regard. In Saudi Arabia, women are persecuted and oppressed for the same reasons, but the country is considered a reliable ally of European "democratic" and "enlightened" governments.

Party of Labor of Austria has always stood on the side of the oppressed people and supported and encouraged TPI to fight for the liberation of the people. The party agrees with the slogan of TPI that the people should oppose dictatorship in a coordinated manner, and expand and continue their struggle.

New Communist Party of the Netherlands

New Communist Party of the Netherlands believes that the murder of Amini is inseparable from the hateful reactionary view of women copied by the capitalist system through religion. On a global scale, a dangerous trend is evident, and it is directed at women. This shows that imperialism is a decadent system, which will only bring more suffering, exploitation and corruption.

The working class of all countries should not be held back by the imperialist ambitions of the United States, the European Union and NATO.

In the United States and several European Union countries, womens rights have been under serious pressure, such as the right to abortion. In addition, the bourgeoisie in these countries preached womens rights by mouth, but at the same time created conditions for the deterioration of womens status by maintaining capitalism.

In this struggle, the working class should not be tempted by capitalism. The working class in all countries can solve the peoples problems only by fighting against capitalism, which eliminates violence against women, and by striving for a new system without exploitation, namely socialism communism.

New Communist Party of the Netherlands supports the Iranian peoples struggle.

Communist Party of Britain

On September 27, the Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Britain explicitly condemned the cruel treatment and murder of Amini by the theocratic “moral police”.

They demanded that Iran stop all harassment, intimidation and humiliation of women. Communist Party of Britain calls for the immediate cessation of all violence, intimidation and repression measures against the Iranian people protesting, and for the release of all those arrested and the safe return of their families.

Communist Party of Britain expresses its solidarity with the Iranian people and their struggle, and calls on all progressive forces in Britain and around the world to support the protests of the Iranian people and their demands for the establishment of a free, democratic and independent country.

They reiterated that the future of Iran is determined by the Iranian people themselves, and only by them, without direct or indirect interference or intervention by foreign forces under any pretext.

Communist Party of Britain, together with the international communist movement, expressed its solidarity with TPI, which has been the core of the just and peaceful struggle in Iran and even the entire Middle East region for more than 80 years.

Communist Party of India

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (CPI) issued a statement on October 10, expressing support and solidarity with the Iranian people.

While expressing support and solidarity with the Iranian people, CPI demanded that all kinds of repressive measures taken against the protesters be stopped immediately, all arrested persons be released, and actions be taken against those who killed Amini.

CPI also reiterated its position that the outside world should not interfere in Iran’s internal affairs under any pretext.

CPI also expressed its solidarity with TPI, which has overcome all oppression in the past 80 years and is fighting for an Iranian national democratic republic that guarantees peace and justice.

Communist Party of Greece

In a statement about the murder of 22 year-old Iranian woman Amini and the popular demonstrations in Iran,Communist Party of Greece stresses their support for the Iranian people.

Communist Party of Greece believes that The hypocritical declarations and sanctions by EU, USA and NATO officials, who use such obscurantist practices against women in the context of inter-imperialist competition, do not consist a “protective shield” against multi-faceted violence for any woman like Amini. After all, these are the same forces that, at the same time, support regimes in other countries that apply the same practices against women.

Rage and indignation towards such heinous crimes can become a force of struggle to root out the social-class causes of woman’s unequal position in capitalism and its cultural, religious cloak.
