The “first combination” and “second combination” address different issues, have different meanings, and methods, but the “first combination” is the premise and foundation of the “second combination”, which provides national forms, ideological resources, and spiritual motivation for the “first combination”. Therefore, the “two combinations” are not only distinct and relatively independent from each other, but also interdependent and mutually reinforcing. The same subject, practical direction, and purpose of the “two combinations” are two aspects of promoting the sinicization and modernization of Marxism, rather than two separate issues. It is difficult and should not be completely separated. For future oriented theoretical innovation, we should not only pay more attention to promoting the “second combination”, but also better connect the “two combinations”.
