Mao Zedong’s view on war, formed during practical experiences of warfare, reveals the roots, essence and laws of war, representing an innovative theoretical achievement in the sinicization of Marxist views on war. His view encapsulates dialectical thinking such as opposing unjust wars with just wars and the mutual transformation between war and peace. It has provided a scientific weapon of thinking for the Communist Party of China to unite and lead the people in fulfilling the historical mission from resisting against the Japanese aggression to achieving independence and then to pursuing peaceful development, making significant contributions to maintaining and promoting world peace and justice. In the context of the world today, when the themes of peace and development intertwine with great changes unseen in a century, Mao Zedong’s reflections on issues of peace, justice and war offer us a correct position, perspective and methodology to understand and address the problems of war under new historical conditions. This insight is of profound theoretical and practical significance for China as it adheres to a path of peaceful development, promotes the construction of a just and reasonable international order, and maintains world peace and stability.
