Release time: 2024-05-28
Abstract
This review paper offers a concise overview of the evolution of India's Leftist movement. It contends that the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia spurred neighbouring countries to break free from the tyranny of imperialism. To address this, the review identifies Satyabrata Rai Chowdhuri's ‘Leftism in India 1917–1947’ a remarkable work to comprehend Indian leftism at its initial Phase. In addition, other fundamental sources have been located to determine the opportunities and obstacles of leftism in India. Furthermore, it engages and recognises those (individuals) who were motivated by left ideals and orientations. Eventually, they played a significant role in the formation of left-wing parties in India.
