Mao Ze-dong organically combined the scientific thinking of Marxism with the thinking of the fine traditional Chinese culture, so that the latter could be greatly improved and transformed into the position, viewpoints and methods of thinking and doing for the contemporary Chinese. In this manner, the once disorganize Chinese people came to achieve unity of thought, of purpose and of action, Mao Ze-dong’s historical contribution to improving the thinking ability of the Chinese nation is mainly reflected in five aspects: advocating seeking truth from facts to overcome dogmatic thinking: advocating dialectical thinking to overcome metaphysical thinking; advocating systematic thinking to overcome fragmented thinking; advocating historical thinking to overcome fat thinking; and advocating the thinking of development and change to overcome static and rigid thinking. As a result, Mao Ze-dong initially realized his wish to “liberate philosophy from philosophers’ classrooms and books and tum it into a powerful weapon in the hands of the masses” in his lifetime.
