After the establishment of China’s socialist economic system, mainly in the new period of reform and opening up and since entering into the new era, the political economy of socialism with Chinese characteristics has gone from creation to formation and development, then to expansion and to the establishment of a systematic economic theory. It is the formation and development process of contemporary China’s Marxist economy and its scientific system, and also the historical and theoretical evolution process of the sinicization and modernization of Marxist political economy. Taking the sinicization and modernization of Marxist economy as the main line, this paper reviews and summarizes the application and innovation of Marxist political economy in contemporary China, refines and summarizes the in-depth development and theoretical contributions of political economy of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and highlights the new realm of Marxist political economy in contemporary China and Marxist political economy in the 21st century.
