The proposition of socialist market economy includes two major theoretical issues: whether socialism could work with market economy and whether socialism could be consistent with the operating mechanism of market economy. The former has been solved by the contribution of Deng Xiao-ping’s ideology on socialist market economy, while the latter by the theoretical contribution of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jin-ping as its core. We should unswervingly hold on to the development pathway of socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics and the orientation of market economy, following the basic principle that building up a modern system for market economy is the way to further reform and sustainable development.
