The Marxist idea of historical materialism on the relationship between state system and interest reveals that the essence of state is interest and this essence determines that the identification with a system is the identification with interest. Therefore，interest is the essential manifestation of the identification with a system and whether the system is accepted depends on whether it could meet people's needs. The economic base of socialism with Chinese characteristics, with public ownership as the mainstay，determines that the essence of socialism with Chinese characteristics lies in the interest of the majority. And the affirmation; maintenance and guarantee of most people's interest constitute the essence of the identification with the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
