This paper reviews the origin, development and relevant practices of the strategic thought of MaoZedong concerning the unaltered nature of the Communist Party of China and the state under its leadership. It presents an impartial evaluation of the mistakes made by Mao Zedong in the latter part of his life, andpoints out that the important lessons from the Cultural Revolution must always be remembered. In themeantime, the demise of the Communist Parties in former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe has fullyproved that Mao Zedong’s strategic thought concerning the prevention of the Party and the State fromchanging their nature still assumes profound historical significance at present and will be so in the future. Adistinction must be made between Maso Zedong’s thought about the unaltered nature of the Party and thestate and his theory of the Cultural Revolution, between his contributions in his later years and his mistakesin the theory and practices of the Cultural Revolution, and between the motivation of the CulturalRevolution and the theory and practices of the Cultural Revolution.
