Sun Yingshuai is Researcher, Director of Research Unit of Development History of Marxism of Academy of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Chief Expert of the Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Professor of University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and adviser to postgraduate students; Peer Review Expert for the National Social Science Fund projects. He obtained the degree of Doctor of Laws from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2006, and finished the postdoctoral research at Peking University in 2009.

Main academic experience

(1) Since 2000, he has been working in the Academy of Marxism of CASS.

(2) During the past two decades, he has published 3 monographs, including Study on the Theory of Intraparty Democracy in the Communist Party of China, Establishing a Correct View of Equality, and Research on the Theoretical Innovation of Party Building in the New Era. He also co-edited the books of Development History of Marxism and Annals of the Thought of Marx and Engels, co-authored more than 10 books including “Manifesto of the Communist Party” in China, Intellectual History of 30 Years of Reform and Opening Up, A New Theory of Marxist Integrality, Biography of Karl Marx, A Marxist Interpretation of Deng Xiaoping Theory, Chinese Dream and Zhejiang Practice, Reports in the Yellow Book Series on the International Communist Movement, Marx’s Circle of Friends. He also participated in the writing of the Textbook of Introduction to Marxist Party Building.

(3) He has published more than 100 academic and theoretical articles in academic journals and newspapers, including People’s Daily, Guangming Daily, Economic Daily, Qiushi, People’s Tribune, Frontiers, Studies on Marxism, Ideological and Political Education Research, Review of Economic Research, Zhejiang Academic Journal, Observation and Ponderation, Frontline, Oriental Outlook Weekly, China News Weekly, as well as various media and websites such as “people.cn”, “Gmw.cn,” “haiwainet.cn,” “cctv.com,” “cnr.cn,” and so on.

(4) He has participated or presided over more than 20 various projects, including major projects of National Social Science Fund, Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project, Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and projects from the Academy of Marxism. Some of the projects are “Intellectual History of 30 Years of Reform and Opening Up,” “Development History of Marxism,” “Research on the Construction of the International Image of the Communist Party of China,” “Research on Major Theoretical Issues of Socialism at the Primary Stage and the Stage of New Development,” “Research on Major Issues Related to the Primary Stage of Socialism,” and so on.

(5) He has participated in more than 20 research reports, including “Research Report on Chinese Dream and Zhejiang Practice,” “Research Report on Inheriting and Carrying forward the ‘Yimeng Spirit’ in Shandong Province,” “Research Report on the Long-Term Mechanism of Requiring Incumbent Party Members to Report for Duty to the Community in Taoranting of Beijing,” “Research Report on Party Building for Promoting Regional Development in Beijing’s CBD,” and so on.

Major honors and awards

The article “The Bankruptcy of Historical Nihilism” written by the Ideology and Theory Writing Group of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was awarded by the Office of Central Leading Group for Cybersecurity and Informatization as “an excellent theoretical article across the web,” which Sun Yingshuai participated in writing. The article “Innovating Concepts and Methods for Achieving Closer Relationship between the Party and the Masses” was commended by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee. The article “‘Three Transformations’ in the Innovative Ideas of Party Building of Non-public Enterprises in Zhejiang Province” won the First Prize of Zhejiang Province Theoretical Essay Solicitation Activities in Commemoration of the 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China. The article “Marx and Engels’ Theory on Class and Stratum and the Changes in the Working Class in Contemporary China” won the First Prize of Scientific Research Achievement of the Academy of Marxism of CASS (2015-2018). He participated in the “Research Report on the Main Contradictions in China’s Society at the Present Stage” written under the leadership of Li Shenming of CASS won the Grand Prize of Excellent Countermeasure Information (Ideology Category) of CASS (2017). The “Research Report on Party Building for Promoting Regional Development in Beijing’s CBD” won the Second Prize of 2019 Self-Selected Topics of the National Society for the CPC Building Studies of the Organization Department of the Central Committee, etc.
