Abstract 

　　Since the victory of the Cuban revolution, Cuba has continuously explored a path of modernization suited to its national conditions by establishing and perfecting a socialist system with Cuban characteristics. Since the beginning of the 21st century, Cuba has focused on new changes, new problems and new challenges in domestic and foreign affairs in the era of globalization, and has begun a new stage in updating its model. In recent years, Cuba’s socio-economic situation has become increasingly severe, facing multiple challenges such as escalating sanctions and economic shortages. In order to reverse the economic decline, the Communist Party of Cuba has learnt well the lessons of updating its model and adjusted its strategy in a timely manner. In the future, the Cuban party and government will still face the two historic tasks of deepening model updating and opposing the US embargo. Despite the many challenges, the Communist Party of Cuba has always adhered to the basic experience of theoretical innovation, people first, scientific development, struggle and exploration, and international solidarity, which has provided valuable experience and important reference for the countries of the “Global South” to persist in independently exploring their paths of modernization and development.
