Caracas, 03-08-2022. The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) expresses its energetic rejection of the new provocation of U.S. imperialism against the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of the visit of the President of the U.S. Congress to Taiwan.

In an avowedly interventionist policy, the government of the United States stimulates the secessionist aspirations of its allies in Taiwan, threatening the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the People’s Republic of China in open violation of the international agreements on the matter. The PCV ratifies its position against U.S. pretensions to dismember the territory of the People’s Republic of China and to use this situation in the Taiwan Strait to justify its alliances and military operations in the strategic South China Sea.

This escalation of tensions between the capitalist potencies corresponds to the current trend of intensifying capitalist competition for control of markets, trade routes, sources of energy and raw materials, in the context of the profound crisis of the capitalist mode of production on a world scale.

While US imperialism and its allies lose ground in the world competition, its response in the diplomatic and military field becomes more aggressive, which is manifesting in dangerous scenarios that open possibilities for new imperialist wars of a general character.

From the PCV we call on the Communist Parties, the workers’ movement and forces fighting for peace, to intensify the world campaign against the real threat of an imperialist war and any attempt to lead the workers of the world to new wars in defense of the interests of the Capital.
