ABSTRACT
The article is devoted to the discussions on the global ecological crisis led in the Polish magazine Aura in the 1970s and 1980s. Author is focused on the question of relationships between the ecological crisis and growth-dependent economic paradigm, introduced at the time being in Poland. She examines various perspectives concerning the conflicts arising between the need to protect the environment and economic and social development. The problem is situated in the broader context of global processes. The study draws from ecosocialist reflection and is attempting at revisiting various ways in which ecological crisis was conceptualized and the strategies of fighting against it were formulated within the frameworks of socialist thought.
