The Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is the Marxism of contemporary China in the 21st century. This thought is of great importance in the history of world socialist thought, especially in the history of the scientific socialism. It is the latest achievement that has enriched and developed the scientific socialism with a series of original ideas. It faces the issue of where human society is heading, accurately grasps the overall trend of the time, and points out the direction for the future of humanity. It faces up to the major issue of the time on how to adhere to and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics and is a new chapter of scientific socialism. It confronts the new problems of world modernization in the context of international financial crisis, summarizes and elaborates the theory of Chinese path to modernization, and has enriched and developed the Marxist modernization theory. Facing the new trend of the development of world political Parties and the new situation of the construction of the Communist Party of China, it puts forward a new plan to build a long-term ruling Marxist political party. Faced with the global issue of “what is wrong with this world and what we should do about it?”, it has proposed a Chinese plan for global governance.
