The innovative exploration of the characteristics and paths of the sinicization and modernization of Marxism is an important part of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. This innovative exploration is based on the theoretical character of “treating science with a scientific attitude and pursuing truth with the spirit of truth” and the spirit of the times. It is the adherence to the theory and philosophy of “constantly giving Marxism with new connotation of the times” in the process of integrating the scientific principles and spirit of Marxism into the whole process of sinicization and modernization of Marxism. The “two combinations” in this creative exploration are the results of applying Marxism to observe the times, grasp the times, lead the times, and promote the ideological wisdom of sinicization and modernization of Marxism. The path of combining the basic principles of Marxism with China’s fine traditional culture is the concentrated embodiment of the CPC’s historical and theoretical consciousness. Xi Jinping’s “at the fundamental level” interpretation of Marxism, “particularly when it is adapted to the Chinese context and the needs of our times”, has sublimated the new realm of sinicization and modernization of Marxism.
