With the completion of a moderately prosperous society, it is appropriate for China to adopt the “society of common prosperity”as the goal of the new stage of China's socialist modernization, which is connected with the “moderately prosperous society”. On this basis, it is necessary to elaborate the main basis, connotation and reasonable boundary of the society of common prosperity. The main basis of the society of common prosperity is that: the goal of the society of common prosperity can reflect the consistent original aspiration of the Chinese Communists; the goal of the society of common prosperity can reflect the historical tasks of a specific stage of China's socialist modernization under the conditions of the new era; the goal of the society of common prosperity is a goal that can be generally agreed by the general public in China. The connotation of the society of common prosperity is that the society of common prosperity emphasizes the “good life”and a high level of “quality of life”; the society of common prosperity values the “common” prosperity of all people; the society of common prosperity is a society of comprehensive development. The reasonable boundaries of the society of common prosperity include: the society of common prosperity cannot be separated from the free and all-round development of human beings; the society of common prosperity cannot be separated from the basic socialist economic system; the society of common prosperity is not an egalitarian society.
