Since its establishment, the United Nations has made it one of its purposes to promote global economic development and enhance human well-being. Since the 1960s, the U.N. mechanism for poverty reduction has gone through three phases: four rounds of“International Development Strategy for the United Nations Development Decade”,“Millennium Development Goals”and“Sustainable Development Goals”, which made great progress in reducing poverty, promoting equality and protecting the environment. Since its reform and opening up, China has made tremendous achievements in economic and social development through a path of poverty reduction with Chinese characteristics. It has actively participated in the construction of global mechanisms for poverty reduction, explored in depth the model of foreign aid that is“self-reliant, equal and mutually beneficial, and free of political conditions”, shared its experience in poverty reduction with developing countries, and made important contributions to the global poverty reduction.
