Hu Wei-xiong:Fully Appreciating Marx’s Community Theory: A Study of The Critique of Political Economy (Manuscript of 1857-58)
     Release time: 2020-06-03

The Critique of Political Economy (Manuscript of 1857-58) embodies a systematic theory of community, which mainly includes the naturally formed community and the community created by workers. The capitalist mode of production which grew from the economic structure of feudal society constitutes a modern community, aiming at producing the exchange value, stretching from capitalist community, monetary community, exchange community, to labor community, etc. The bourgeois state is a false community which will be sublated by an association of free people. For Marx, community is not a sociological concept. Through the concept of community, Marx and Engels focused on the relationship between individual and group organization,so individual and community are a pair of categories. Community is not a tool that Marx utilized to directly analyze the social forms of economy, so it is not appropriate to take community as a social form and to attach it to the“three forms”or“two stages”of society.
