Since the reform and opening up, the ideological trend of democratic socialism has heen spreading and overflowing rapidly in domestic theoretical circles. They share basic methods by distorting Engels’thoughts in his later years.They observe that Engels was in favor of democratic socialism in his later years and became a democratic socialist, and argue that democratic socialism is the “orthodoxy” of Marxism. But in fact, Engels, a firm communist, opposes the so-called communism with abstract humanitarianism. It is a universal law to gain power through armed struggle. Engels advocates that revolutionary struggle should take many forms,but he always insists on and emphasizes violent revolution.
