Abstract
This article provides a Marxist analysis of the film Planes, Trains and Automobiles. The author endeavors to show that this film is a great work of art that depicts in a fantasy aesthetic the problems which a “reified” capitalist economy poses to the individual life and the way in which such reification can be overcome.
